Peptide Storage & Handling: A Laboratory Guide

Peptide stability depends on sequence, formulation, temperature, light, moisture, and freeze–thaw history. This laboratory guide covers practical storage and handling principles for lyophilised research peptides. It does not provide human-use instructions.

Lyophilised (dry) storage

Most lyophilised research peptides are held cold — often frozen (e.g. −20°C) — in sealed vials away from moisture. After reconstitution

Once reconstituted, many peptides are more sensitive to degradation. Common laboratory practices include:

  • Aliquoting to avoid repeated freeze–thaw of a master stock
  • Refrigerated or frozen storage per validated SOP
  • Protecting light-sensitive sequences
  • Clear labelling: compound, concentration, lot, date, RUO

Shipping and cold chain
