Worked example (laboratory math only)

If a vial contains 10 mg of lyophilised research peptide and you add 2 mL of diluent under your SOP, the resulting concentration is 5 mg/mL (5,000 µg/mL). Any aliquot volume you later pipette is a laboratory volume decision for your assay — not a recommended human dose.

Practical laboratory notes

  • Confirm diluent compatibility (many SOPs reference bacteriostatic water or sterile water for injection-grade laboratory diluents — follow your institution).
  • Allow lyophilised cake to equilibrate briefly before adding diluent; swirl gently rather than shaking vigorously unless your SOP says otherwise.
  • Aliquot promptly if repeated freeze–thaw cycles degrade your analyte.
  • Label every tube with compound, lot, concentration, date, and RUO marking.

Storage after reconstitution

Stability depends on sequence, concentration, buffer, temperature, and light exposure. Use supplier storage notes where provided and validate for your method. Do not assume room-temperature stability.
